A little about myself and why I decided to start a blog…  I’m just a Christian woman on this journey of life, and I find that the older I get, the more I believe it is important for us to share with each other- to share our thoughts on life- God and family- the important stuff! God put us here, alongside our brothers and sisters in Christ, to be fellow workers for His glory!

I chose the name of my blog- The Garment Toucher- because I can so easily identify with that sweet woman whose story is revealed in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke- I call her the garment toucher.  Jesus was in the street- walking with crowds pressing in on all sides, and the Bible tells us that a woman who had been sick from losing blood for 12 years was desperately trying to get to Jesus.  She had tried other ways to find healing and had been unsuccessful- 12 years she had been bleeding!- and the scriptures tell us that she said if she could just touch the hem of His garment, she knew she would be healed! This sweet woman of faith finally got close enough to touch His garment- and Jesus immediately knew that healing power had left Him.  He stopped and asked who touched Him- this sweet woman stepped forward in fear and trembling because she knew she had been discovered.  She confessed her story to Jesus- sweet Jesus, the One who can heal our sorrows and who died so that we can have abundant life- and He told her that her faith had healed her!  Matthew, Mark, and Luke, in the NIV version, all tell us that Jesus called her “Daughter”- and He told her that her faith had made her well!

I have had a few of those moments in my life when my heart was broken, times when my fear and trembling threatened to overtake me- times when I thought- “if I can just find Jesus, if I can just touch Him…”  If you, like me, have had those moments, then I invite you to join me in this journey of learning to trust Him more, learning that we can truly trust Him to heal our sorrows and that He cares for us!  I believe that He loves each of us personally, and that He longs for us to sit at His feet and touch His garment!  He cares about our hurts and our concerns, and I believe that His message for us, just as it was for this sweet woman that day, is- “Take heart, daughter,…your faith has healed you.”  Matthew 9:22 NIV
